Exterior Home Inspection for the Spring Season
Spring weather is hopefully around the corner. Sun shining, birds singing, grass turning green, kids playing in the yard, grilling out, home improvement projects on your mind. Isn't that exciting? This is the time to thoroughly walk the exterior of your home; looking for areas that look faded discolored, rotten, chalking paint, peeling paint, failing caulking, clogged gutters and/or downspouts, fogginess in window glass, landscaping in need of attention, etc., etc.....
There is a lot of homeowners that seem to neglect their biggest investment. When we hear or notice something wrong with our vehicles, they immediately get car into a mechanic for inspection. Why should we treat something that is worth ten times that any differently? Have your home inspected yearly by yourself and about every 3-4 years by a qualified professional contractor.
You can do some preventative things yourself that can keep your home looking its best year after year. Washing down your windows and siding with a garden hose every Spring and Fall is one. Keep all landscaping 8"-10" away from your home's siding. Keep mulch and dirt 6" below the lowest point of siding on any wall and slope it away from the home.
Be Pro-active and protect your home by trimming trees and shrubs away from home. Keep gutters debris free. Adjust sprnklers facing away from home. Never use ice melt next to siding. These few extra precautions will save you from the expense of re-siding your Kansas City home prematurely.
